    box  1 : Timp Haven Research (1903-2001)
      folder  1 : Anecdotal History of Sundance (1987)
        Justin C. Stewart wrote this sixty-eight page history discussing the history of the Stewart family's involvement in obtaining land in Provo Canyon and creating a Ski Resort. He writes about early homesteading activities of Stewart Flat and discusses methods used by the North Fork Investment Company to acquire 3,000 acres in Provo Canyon. The North Fork Investment Company was incorporated by John R. and Scott P. Stewart. In the 1950s this area previously known as Stewart Flat became Timp Haven Ski Resort and later Robert Redford's Sundance Resort, in 1969.
      folder  2 : Before Sundance : Ray Stewart and Timp Haven (2001)
        This book was narrated by Ray Stewart prior to his passing in 1995 and compiled by his daughter Barbara Stewart Anderson in 2001. It discusses Ray's adventures and life activities as well as the development of the Timp Haven Ski Resort. This book also contains images of his skiing memorabilia. Included in the book are a variety of images from very rare newspaper clippings and never before available photographs.
      folder  3 : Clarence Thornock Oral Interview Transcript (1979)
        Clarence Thornock is a former supervisor of the Uinta National Forest. He discusses items relating to the history of the North Fork area of Provo Canyon.
      folder  4 : North Fork Investment Co. Land Patents (1919-1920)
        The land patents document the purchase of twelve 160 acre tracts of land at a price of $400 each by the North Fork Investment Company. The North Fork Investment Company's methods of land acquisition are described in Justin C. Stewart's "Anecdotal History of Sundance" contained in box one folder one of this collection.
      folder  5 : Henry "Hank" Maiben Stewart Biography (1909-1987)
        This book contains transcriptions of memoirs recorded by Hank Stewart late in his life. The transcript is 62 pages long with an appendix containing reproductions of selections from Hank Stewart's correspondence.
      folder  6 : Alonzo and Eloise Morley and Hank Stewart Interview (1979)
        This oral interview transcript discusses the early activities of the Stewart family in Provo Canyon. On page two of the transcript Hank Stewart discusses how his Grandfather Andrew Jackson Stewart's practice of polygamy prevented him from signing government contracts. Hank Stewart states that some years after Wilford Woodruff's anti-polygamy manifesto, Andrew Jackson Stewart "eventually had to take his families to Mexico to avoid...uh...having already signed some of these contracts..." ellipses in original.
      folder  7 : Ray and Ava Stewart and Joann Lewis Interview (1989)
        This folder contains the transcript of an oral history interview conducted as part of the University of Utah's Everett L. Cooley Oral History Project. The interview was conducted by Joe Arave. In the interview, Ray Stewart discusses his upbringing, family life, education, and his association with the Timp Haven Ski Resort. He also relates a story about making his own skis from pine trees.
      folder  8 : Raymond Riggs Stewart Autobiographical Notes
        This account written autobiographically discusses the life of Raymond Riggs Stewart. He writes his activities with the Civil Defense Ski Corp and making a workable tow of 500 feet from a Chevy truck. He also writes about his involvement with Timp Haven Ski Resort from 1953 to 1960 when he reluctantly sold his interest in the resort to his brother Paul Stewart. He also describes serving for many years as a Financial Clerk for his local LDS ward.
      folder  9 : "Stewart and Sons" North Fork Water Field Notes (1903-1904)
        This document apparently kept by Andrew Jackson Stewart and his Sons who surveyed lands in Provo Canyon, documents the water levels at various spots in the North Fork of Provo Canyon.
      folder  10 : Timp Haven Resort Company : A Case Prepared for Steven Covey
        This report includes charts, graphs, and financial information, and was prepared by Jan Stewart and Joseph Harris to describe the origins of Timp Haven, its initial financial agreements, and investigation into incorporation for Steven Covey. At the time the report was written, the Stewart Family who owned Timp Haven was investigating incorporation to relieve some of the financial burden to the family of running the resort. The report was written some time prior to the sale of the resort to Robert Redford.
    box  2 : Before Sundance Scrapbook - Sections One through Three (2001)
      Boxes 2-3 contain a scrapbook that includes newspaper clippings, images, magazine articles, and promotional materials that document the history of the Timp Haven (Sundance) Ski Area. Many of these items appeared in print in Barbara Stewart Anderson's privately published book, Before Sundance: Ray Stewart and Timp Haven, 2001. Also contained in this scrapbook are lift tickets, collectable pins, and some of Ray Stewart's season passes.
