Abstract: The Burton Howard and Angelina Carhart Tallmon Jones Papers (1814-2004) document the ancestors and descendants of Burton Howard (1868-1956), a Congregational minister, and his wife, Angelina Carhart Tallmon Jones (1866-1921). The collection includes correspondence, birth and death information, family histories, writings, poetry, biographical sketches, pedigree charts and other genealogical papers, news articles, publication extracts, record books, journals, military documents, and various other materials. Much of the correspondence, along with select other papers, was organized by the family and assigned a numerical identifier. These numbers are written on each folder, although they are not represented in this current inventory. A listing of numbers and their corresponding names is located in box 58, folder 1. The collection includes many documents dating from the nineteenth century, most of which are originals. Others, including those dating from the eighteenth century, are photocopies. Most folder titles were generated by family members and have been maintained in this inventory.
