SUGGEST A PURCHASE OR SUBSCRIPTION
Who can make a suggestion?
We
read all suggestions but give primary consideration to those verifiably from
students, faculty and staff of the University
of Utah. Please verify that you are a
student or faculty member by providing your Unid or Lib # from your ID.
What can the library purchase?
The library is able to buy
most of the reasonably-priced books and audio-visual materials relevant to
lower campus curriculum and research which are suggested by the University community.
Journals and databases are ongoing commitments and we weigh requests for new
subscriptions against the desire of other readers that existing titles be
continued.
Materials outside Marriott Library’s mission:
Recreational reading (popular fiction, how-to books and other items not directly supporting University curriculum and research)
Marriott accepts suggestions for its small Browsing Collection, but your public library is a better source.
Suggest material relevant to Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy
Suggest material
relevant to the College of Law
How long will it take?
Book purchases can take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive and be processed.
Rush processing can take 2 to 4 weeks and cost more money. Please use rushes prudently.
We cannot place orders for items more than 2 months before their scheduled publication date.
Journals and databases are evaluated by a library committee which balances additions with cancellations. Changes generally take effect in January or July.
Paper or electronic?
If a journal or book is available in an online (web-based) edition, library policy is to buy it in that format. Use the “other information” box to specifically suggest a paper edition.
Enter as much information as you know about each item you would like to suggest for purchase.
